Li says there’s no magic bullet, but adopting healthier lifestyle choices can possibly reverse the aging process of the colon, which could decrease disparities and risks.
“Eat well, sleep well, exercise, no smoke, no alcohol drink,” he said.
Li says they’ve also discovered how sugary beverages have led to high rates of obesity in Virginia, which could also be a factor in colorectal cancer. He says UVA and his team will continue to follow new leads in the hope of discovering better treatments for and prevention of colorectal cancer.
