The Buffalo Bills went through the first two weeks of the NFL season without having many injuries to speak of. It’s been a much different story the last week.
The Bills entered Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans without safety Jordan Poyer, cornerback Taron Johnson and guard Jon Feliciano. During the first half, the Bills lost one of their most important player, not just on defense, but the entire team.
The Bills announced that linebacker Matt Milano is doubtful to return to the game this afternoon with a hamstring injury.
Milano leads the team with tackles for loss this season and is Pro Football Focus’ top-ranked linebacker with at least 100 snaps through the first three weeks of the season.
The Bills play the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday and losing a player who is so important as Milano against the pass would be a huge loss if he cannot play against the Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes and company are the litmus test for the Bills defense.
This is also huge because the Bills are already without Poyer and Taron Johnson, whose status is up in the air next week as well. It’s not clear on how severe Milano’s hamstring injury is. We should hear more from head coach Sean McDermott after the game.
