WCTE has announced its schedule for this week.

Wednesday, Aug. 5

7 p.m. – “Animals with Cameras, A Nature Miniseries” with Chilean devil rays in the Azores, tracking brown bears’ diets in Turkey, and following dogs protecting flocks of sheep from gray wolves in southern France.

8 p.m. – “NOVA: Rise of the Mammals”. A new trove of fossils reveals how mammals took over.

9 p.m. – “Forces of Nature”. How the colors of the Earth are created and the energy they carry.

10 p.m. – “Life from Above”. The shapes that cover Earth’s surface as seen from space.

Thursday, Aug. 6

7 p.m. – “Reconnecting Roots”. From tents to steeples to megachurches, how religious groups have divided, multiplied, and united Americans for generations.

7:30 p.m. – “Tennessee Crossroads”.

8 p.m. – “Live Green Tennessee”. Christian Grantham at Half Hill Farm, who creates healthy oils and beverages containing CBD oil to help relieve stress and anxiety.

8:30 p.m. – “One On One with Becky Magura” sits down with Reatha King to learn about her scientific and academic career.

9 p.m. – “The Upper Cumberland Camera”. Throwback Thursday’s time capsule goes back to Barbara Griffin’s Christmas Tree and Cookeville General Hospital’s 35th Anniversary.

9:30 p.m. – “Bluegrass Underground”. Steve Earle and the Dukes.

10 p.m. – “Tennessee Wild Side”.

10:30 p.m. – “Songs at the Center”. Hosted by singer-songwriter Eric Gnezda, at the Woodward Opera House in Mt Vernon, OH.

Friday, Aug. 7

5 p.m. – “WCTE Live at 5”.

5:30 p.m. – “BBC World News Today”.

6 p.m. – “PBS NewsHour”.

7 p.m. – “Washington Week”.

7:30 p.m. – “Firing Line with Margaret Hoover”.

8 p.m. – “Brandi Carlile In Concert: A Bluegrass Underground Special” Deep inside The Caverns, Bluegrass Underground presents a concert special by roots-rocker Brandi Carlile.

9 p.m. – “Great Performances”. The story behind the success of Lin Manuel Miranda’s “In the Heights”.

10 p.m. – “Song of the Mountains”. Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver.

Saturday, Aug. 8

7 p.m. – “Classic Gospel: GVB Reunion Live”. History was made when more than 20 members, past and present, of the Grammy award-winning Gaither Vocal Band gathered on one stage for the first ever live concert reunion.

8 p.m. – “Antiques Roadshow: Vintage Boston” How the antiques market has evolved in the last 15 years.

9 p.m. – “Lost River Sessions”. Nashville-based string band The Howlin’ Brothers perform a lively set inside The Arling, a repurposed tobacco barn in Franklin, KY.

10 p.m. – “Austin City Limits”. Chart-topping R&B and pop with two Grammy winners – L.A. singer Miguel and Canadian hitmaker Alessia Cara.

Sunday, Aug. 9

3 p.m. – “Ray Stevens CabaRay Nashville”. Guest: Ballie and the Boys

3:30 p.m. – “Sun Studio Sessions”.

4 p.m. – “Reconstruction: America After The Civil War” explores the rise of Jim Crow and the undermining of Reconstruction’s legal and political legacy and how African Americans fought back using artistic expression to put forward a “New Negro” for a new century.

6 p.m. – “PBS NewsHour Weekend”.

6:30 p.m. – “One On One with Becky Magura” sits down with Reatha King to learn about her scientific and academic career.

7 p.m. – “Secrets of Her Majesty’s Secret Service”. What the real British Secret Service is like.

8 p.m. – “Endeavour, Season 7 On Masterpiece”. A murder in Oxford puts Thursday on a quest to find the man responsible. Returning home, Morse makes a new acquaintance, and old friendships show signs of strain.
