WESTLAKE, Ohio — Westlake Porter Public Library is celebrating Black History Month with a myriad of special programs, displays and books. Other fun February programs are available too.
There will be a display in the lobby highlighting African-Americans who have had a major impact on our country, according to library information. There also will be displays of library material focusing on Black history, blog posts and the following programs:
· Young Adult Book Club: “Pet,” by Akwaeke Emezi. Those unable to attend in person can join simultaneously via Zoom.
· Books available in Youth Services. Please register to check them out.
· Adult Creative Writing Group, 7 to 8 p.m. Feb. 21.
· An hour of creative writing prompts to inspire you to start and keep writing. This month’s meeting will be a celebration of poetry in honor of Black History Month. Register for 7 to 8 p.m. Feb. 22.
Other February programs include a Roblox Arcade, a Dance for Every-body, Pokemon Fun, Valentine Crafts, Tuesday evening book club or Wednesday afternoon book discussion, an Android Smart Phone and tablet user group, basic sewing, writing groups, Fun Science Fridays, cooking and starting a business … and much more.
