I have been reading about Phillip Adams, a former cornerback in the NFL. Adams started with the San Francisco 49ers and finished his career with the Atlanta Falcons. He spent six seasons in the league before retiring in 2016 at the age of 27. Five years later, he turned up at the home of Dr Robert Lesslie in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where he shot and killed
six people.
The victims were Dr Lesslie, his wife Barbara, their grandchildren Adah, 9, and Noah, 5, and two men, James Lewis and Robert Shook, who had come to repair the air-conditioning. Police surrounded Adams’s parents’ home the next day but before they could arrest him the 32-year-old shot himself in the head, ending his life.
That happened
