HiTouch Invests $10K in Urban League of Middle Tennessee for its 53rd Anniversary

NASHVILLE, Tenn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–HiTouch Business Services is investing $10,000 into The Urban League of Middle Tennessee as the historic civil rights organization celebrates its 53rd Anniversary. The office supply company’s contribution will support all ULMT’s programs, including initiatives that focus on diversity and inclusion in the workplace, career development, education and housing opportunities, entrepreneurship training, and economic empowerment for underserved communities.

“ULMT and HiTouch are aligned in our objectives to make work environments more diverse, inclusive, and equitable,” said Deborah Huber, Vice President of Customer Experience at HiTouch. “Through this birthday gift, we commemorate Urban League’s long-standing history of bridging the economic gap and finding solutions to racial disparities.”

“I want to express my gratitude to HiTouch for their donation as we reach another milestone,” said Clifton Harris, CEO of Urban League of Middle Tennessee. “Without the generosity of corporate donors, we could not offer programs such as Equity in Action, which provides the methodology for influential business decision-makers to partner with small business owners of color to increase procurement and their visibility.”

Established in 1910, The National Urban League is the nation’s oldest and largest community-based movement devoted to empowering African Americans to enter the economic and social mainstream. Today, the National Urban League, headquartered in New York City, spearheads the non-partisan efforts of its local affiliates. Over 90 affiliates of the National Urban League located in 36 states and the District of Columbia providing direct services to more than 2 million people nationwide through programs, advocacy, and research.

The Urban League of Middle Tennessee was chartered on April 15, 1968, by a group of diverse business and community leaders to “Carry on social service programs improving the economic welfare of Negroes.” In 2021, ULMT celebrates 53 years of Empowering Nashville and Middle Tennessee Communities and has built a strong reputation for connecting job seekers and employers together for success. Since 2004, ULMT has added up to 23 million dollars back into the Nashville economy due to successes in connecting clients with employers.
