LeBron James and Maverick Carter‘s production company SpringHill Entertainment is teaming up with CNN Films to shoot and produce a documentary based on the Black Wall Street Massacre in 1921

Named Dreamland: The Rise and Fall of Black Wall Street, the upcoming documentary will focus on the tragic event that led to hundreds of African Americans being murdered and 35 city blocks destroyed. It’ll consist of a combination of archival footage as well as new interviews, alongside narrated elements such as personal letters and diary entries from the era. CNN will have broadcasting rights over the film, while HBO Max will be offering it on its streaming platform.

“At SpringHill, we embody empowerment and focus on shining a light on stories that are the fabric of American history,” said SpringHill’s chief content officer Jamal Henderson. “We cannot move forward until we acknowledge our past and this is about honoring a prosperous, booming Black community, one of many, that was brought to an end because of hate.”

There’s no official release date for the documentary, but production is expected to complete by early 2021.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Jaden Smith wants to teach you how to argue in a healthy way.
