The Mississippi Coast Black Rodeo is ready to wrangle in some fans to the Coliseum Saturday night.
The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. The rodeo is put on by the Real Cowboy Association and it will bring cowgirls and cowboys to Biloxi.
It’s family fun entertainment with music, plenty of bull riding, calf roping, bareback riding, and other traditional rodeo events.
The rodeo was started to highlight the African American history in rodeo events. Jarriet Edwards with Real Cowboy Association said, “It’s not about race. It’s not about color because cowboys, Indians, African Americans, white Americans, they all played a part in western heritage. We’re still showing that we all come together and we do the same thing together.”
The rodeo has a large economic impact on the area. The last time it was held in Biloxi was 2016 and it brought in $616,000 to the area. This year it’s estimated to bring in $980,000.
