This is the last week in 2020 for CHI-Together. After a hugely popular 10 week run, Sunday, September 13th will be the final night of entertainment at the CHI-Together Drive-In at Chicago’s Soldier Field.
For the last nine weeks, CHI-Together has hosted more than 50,000 fans at socially-safe Music & Movie Nights at the CHI-Together Drive-In in Soldier Field’s south parking lot. Music, movies, downtown Chicago, the skyline and more came together to provide many nights of great entertainment.
Fittingly, CHI-Together is not going out quietly. Quite the opposite. CHI-Together is going out in style, with a jam-packed lineup for the final week.
This week’s Guest Appreciation Week schedule includes:
Pre-Show Live Music & Games 6:30 pm-8 pm, Movies begins at 8 pm
• Wednesday, September 9th – A Night of Faith, presented by K-LOVE 97.9 & Renew Chicago
“I Still Believe” with a live performance by Gershon & New Generation Levites
• Thursday, September 10th – Social Justice Night; honoring the late Chadwick Boseman
“42: The true story of Jackie Robinson”, with a performance by DJ SILKEE
• Friday, September 11th – Teacher Appreciation Night
“Avengers – End Game” with DJ JP Gunzz and International R&B Recording Artist, Matt B
• Saturday, September 12th – Healthcare Heroes Night, presented by Physicians Immediate Care
“Anchorman” with a live performance by Tony Sansone & The Suppliers Chicago
• Sunday, September 13th – CHI-Together Closing Night
“Secret Life of Pets” with a live performance by the Ted Yoder Band
Additionally, I got word that a documented World Record will be broken in support of the Greater Chicago Food Depository. That’s how you go out with a bang!
CHI-Together is the brainchild of Tionna Van Gundy, founder of Fueled Events and Wedicity. Earlier in the summer, Van Gundy told me, “We are a small woman-owned business that pivoted in the times of COVID. CHI-Together was created to provide working opportunities for our team and to give a sense of “togetherness” to the city of Chicago … all while being socially safe! Not only have we been able to employ our team, but this project has now created more than 75 jobs and counting and positively affected 10-plus Chicago companies!!”
Each CHI-Together event featured a 90-minute music set by a local DJ or musician, followed by a movie shown on three jumbo screens. The $55 ticket price for each car (up to six people) also includes a bucket of popcorn. Cars are appropriately spaced apart and there is an area for socially distanced pedestrians, too.
There really is no other drive-in experience like this. CHI-Together created nights of entertainment in a beautiful setting, all while keeping everyone safe. The bar for Chicago drive-in events has been set high by CHI-Together and they have one more big week of fun planned.
