About 40 people take walking tour with local community activist, Jordan Bell on Saturday to learn more about Gainsboro history and how urban renewal displaced African Americans in Roanoke City. During the tour, Bell discusses segregation and prominent community figures such as nationally renowned civil rights attorney Oliver Hill who grew up on Gilmer Avenue, as well as Edward Dudley who was the first Black ambassador of the United States.
