The city of Jackson’s department of Planning & Development, also states the average income per house is $55,940. The city is offering several ways in which to help Jackson, MS entrepreneurs. Some of these include:

  1. Business Entrepreneur Assistance Team (BEAT) –

The BEAT team for Jackson, MS provides business license seekers support during the application process.BEAT (Jackson, MS)

BEAT is a personal assistance program designed to help small business owners obtain their business license from start to finish. Before the introduction of BEAT, aspiring Jackson business owners would complete the application process for a business license through multiple meeting and appointments.

2. City of Jackson Small Business Development Center (SBDC) offers entrepreneurs:

  • One-on-one counseling
  • Training events and workshop for business plan development and more
  • Business services such as international trade, marketing, and cybersecurity.
  • A multitude of funding opportunities

3. Equal Business Opportunities (EBO)

Jackson’s economic development department indicates that the city consists of about 80% African Americans. In light of populous accommodations, the city of Jackson has made easy for businesses to gain certification as a Minority/Female Enterprise. The EBO provides inclusivity for these proprietors toward city procurement processes and the awarding of contracts.

In Jackson, the Doing Business With the City event highlights relationships with Prime Contractors and Subcontractors to exchange ideas and information. EBO certified business owners are encouraged to attend the annual networking event.
