This Day In Politics: the Congressional Black Caucus
On this day in 1971, twelve Congressmen and one Congresswoman banded together to give African Americans a more resounding voice in the halls of Congress. Nixon doesn’t cave easily, but his plummeting approval rating leaves him no choice but to play ball. Today, the CBC is over 50 members strong and continues to the noble fight for equality and quality of life for everyone in the United States.
