The University of Indianapolis announced honored guest DuJuan McCoy, owner, president and CEO of Circle City Broadcasting, as the featured speaker for a virtual lecture at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 8, 2021. Participation is free of charge and participants must register in advance. Register here.

Circle City Broadcasting is the parent company of WISH-TV/WNDY-TV in Indianapolis. Known as the standard-bearer for Black ownership in the television industry, Mr. McCoy will share his insights from the world of broadcast media. Pursuing the University Series theme of “Making Our Way Home,” Mr. McCoy also will share his perspective not only as a Hoosier returning to his roots but also as a changemaker in media ownership.

“I think things are syncing for change to come to America,” said Mr. McCoy, who describes his work ethic as “full-tilt boogie.” He added, “I’m like an ATM machine – never closed and easily accessible.”

Mr. McCoy has more than 30 years of experience in growing television stations into revenue winners while significantly improving the companies’ profitability and community engagement. He also is among the first African-Americans to own and operate a Fox affiliate and a major affiliate in the state of Texas, and the only African-American to own, operate and manage every aspect of a big four affiliate in the United States.

Mr. McCoy is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana. Growing up in the neighborhood of Haughville, Mr. McCoy attended IPS Schools #67 and #75, graduating from Ben Davis High School in 1985. He continued his studies in the city, graduating from Butler University in 1989 with a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Sales.

This event is sponsored by the Professional Edge Center and the University Speaker Series.
